Alphabet Inc. plans to invest at least €13 billion, or roughly $15.1 billion, in Finnish AI infrastructure over the next two years, according to a Reuters report on September 9. The project includes three new data centers and a 22-year agreement to purchase as much as half the output of one of Finland's nuclear plants. Alphabet has raised its expected 2026 capital expenditures to between $195 billion and $205 billion. The spending is bullish for the broader AI hardware ecosystem, including Nvidia, though Google's own custom TPU accelerators give it leverage to route workloads onto internally designed silicon rather than buying all its chips from Nvidia. Hedge-fund ownership of both companies rose in the second quarter, with Alphabet held by 275 funds and Nvidia by 285, while short interest stood at roughly 1.2% of each company's float as of August 14.
