The Government Pension Fund, or GPF, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Deposit Protection Agency, or DPA, Gogolook Thailand Company Limited, known as Whoscall, and National ITMX Company Limited, or NITMX, for a project to build awareness of fraud and digital crime, aiming to raise financial-safety skills among more than 1.2 million GPF members and the general public. Mr. Sornphon Tulyasathien, Secretary-General of the GPF Board, said financial knowledge alone may not be enough; digital literacy must go hand in hand, because scammers select their victims from gaps in knowledge. The project is part of the Retirement Academy initiative developed by the GPF. Under this collaboration, Whoscall is providing 1.5 million Whoscall Premium Basic codes so members can use the tool to screen and warn against risky phone calls that may come from scammers. Data in the company's annual report shows that a single scammer phone number can place more than 800,000 calls. Mrs. Piyaporn Phoklin, Deputy Director and Acting Director of the DPA, said the DPA will build on the collaboration, moving from education on deposit protection to proactive financial-crime prevention. Mr. Chatchai Dusadenoad, Managing Director of NITMX, said the project will help reduce the number of victims and drain the resources of criminal groups, and NITMX will support expanding the cooperation network and further approaches to preventing digital crime.
Gogolook Co LtdWhoscall (Gogolook) is providing 1.5 million Whoscall Premium Basic codes to GPF members, a concrete product adoption/deal.
NITMX joins the MOU to expand the anti-fraud cooperation network, a partnership/role in the project.
