The Government Pension Fund, or GPF, has signed a memorandum of cooperation with three partners: the Deposit Protection Agency, Gogolook (Thailand) Co., Ltd., the provider of the Whoscall application, and National ITMX Co., Ltd., or NITMX, to protect more than 1.2 million members from digital threats and online scams. Mr. Sornphon Tulyasathien, Secretary-General of the GPF Board, said that financial knowledge alone may no longer be sufficient; digital literacy must go hand in hand with it, because scammers choose their victims based on gaps in awareness of threats, not on age. Mrs. Piyaporn Phoklin, Deputy Director and Acting Director of the Deposit Protection Agency, said the cooperation builds on deposit protection education toward proactive financial threat prevention, stressing that depositors receive deposit protection immediately upon opening an account without needing to apply. Mr. Manwoo Joo, Chief Executive Officer of Gogolook (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said Whoscall will deliver 1.5 million codes for its Whoscall Premium Basic anti-scam tool, along with knowledge resources, to more than 1.2 million GPF members, citing Whoscall's annual report that a single scam phone number can make more than 800,000 calls. Meanwhile, Mr. Chatchai Dusadenoad, Managing Director of National ITMX Co., Ltd., said NITMX has worked continuously with commercial banks, the Bank of Thailand and several government agencies to tackle fraud and digital crime, particularly by suspending the tools used to commit crimes in the financial sector.
