GSK has launched a £1.9 billion cost-savings program to help fund late-stage studies and accelerate drug development. The three-year initiative aims to simplify the organization and reallocate capital and resources, CEO Luke Miels said in a statement. The British drugmaker also beat second-quarter profit expectations and announced a £400 million investment in the UK, including a new R&D centre. Shares rose 4.2% by 1120 GMT.
