Phase 2 trial shows Jemperli achieves sustained complete clinical response in rectal cancer, potentially expanding its approved use.

GSK announced that interim results from the phase 2 AZER-1 trial showed patients with a certain type of rectal cancer given Jemperli, also known as dostarlimab, achieved a sustained complete clinical response rate at one year. The enrolled patients had stage II/III mismatch repair deficient/microsatellite instability-high locally advanced rectal cancer, which represents about 5% to 10% of this type of cancer. GSK noted that if approved, Jemperli would become the first immunotherapy that could eliminate or delay the use of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery for this group of rectal cancer patients.
