GungHo Online Entertainment announced on the 28th that Sony Music Entertainment will acquire 22.93% of its shares. Sony Music will become the top shareholder, replacing Taiyo Son, who was involved in the founding of GungHo's predecessor company. Son's asset management company will sell shares at 2,385 yen per share, with a total value of approximately 28.6 billion yen, transferring them to Sony Music on December 30. Sony Music will acquire 23.29% of GungHo shares on a voting rights basis, making it the top shareholder. Sony Music and GungHo will consider joint development of games for smartphones and PCs. Taiyo Son is the younger brother of SoftBank Group Chairman Masayoshi Son and was involved in the founding of OnSale, the predecessor of GungHo.
