Lloyds Banking Group PLCLloyds is scrapping the Halifax brand to consolidate under a single brand, which is a strategic move to simplify operations and reduce costs.

Lloyds Banking Group is scrapping the 173-year-old Halifax brand, with all customer accounts to be rebranded to Lloyds over time. The move makes Lloyds the group's sole brand in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. New customers will no longer be able to open Halifax accounts, and all branches will be rebranded to Lloyds without closures. Existing Halifax customers will be invited to switch to the Lloyds app in the coming weeks, with accounts rebranded over time, while account numbers, sort codes and FSCS protection remain unchanged. Halifax mortgages will continue through intermediaries until 2027 before rebranding to Lloyds Intermediaries.
