Hello Group reported second-quarter 2026 net income of RMB237.4 million, or $35 million, reversing a net loss of RMB140.2 million a year earlier, even as total net revenue fell 5.1% year over year to RMB2,486.0 million, or $366.4 million. The overseas business drove the improvement, with revenue outside the Chinese mainland up 52.0% year over year to RMB672.7 million, or $99.1 million, and up 48.2% to RMB1,270.1 million, or $187.2 million, for the first half of 2026, while paying users on the core Momo app rose to 3.9 million from 3.5 million a year earlier. The China business kept shrinking: value-added service revenue fell 5.4% to RMB2.44 billion, or $359.6 million, mainland net revenue dropped to RMB1.81 billion, or $267.2 million, from RMB2.18 billion, and Tantan's paying users slid to 0.5 million from 0.7 million. Costs rose 1.5% to RMB2.26 billion, or $333.1 million, pushing income from operations down to RMB238 million from RMB403.5 million, and the profit turnaround was aided by income tax expense falling to RMB69.6 million from RMB638.4 million after the year-ago quarter included an additional RMB547.9 million withholding tax accrual. Hello Group guided third-quarter 2026 revenue to RMB2.4 billion to RMB2.5 billion, a year-over-year decline of 9.4% to 5.7%, and said it had repurchased 68.0 million ADSs for $424.1 million at an average price of $6.22 per ADS as of September 3, leaving $62.0 million in the program.
