IBM announced a major partnership with OpenAI, yet its shares fell roughly 1.2% Friday morning as investors sought concrete revenue commitments. The deal brings GPT-5.6, Codex, and ChatGPT Work into IBM Consulting Advantage, targeting customers in banking, government, telecom, and retail. IBM will train thousands of consultants and engineers for advanced partner certifications and establish a dedicated OpenAI practice, while also joining OpenAI's Elite partner tier. However, no contract value, revenue commitment, or deployment timetable was disclosed. IBM traded at $234.74 on Aug. 14, about 2.99% below its GF Value of $241.98.
