International Business MachinesIBM announces new flexible configurations for z17 and LinuxONE 5 systems, expanding deployment options for Gen AI workloads.

IBM introduced new configurations for its z17 and LinuxONE 5 systems, offering both rack mount and single frame options across its entire Z and LinuxONE portfolio for the first time. The expanded portfolios provide a range of deployment options with the same flagship performance, security, and ecosystem standards, allowing clients to co-locate IBM and non-IBM equipment for optimal data center fit. Owain Kenway, Head of Research and Development in Platform Technologies at University College London, highlighted the need for high performance, efficiency, resiliency, and security to handle sensitive datasets with generative AI methods, noting that the new single frame, rack mount, and Express models enable cost-effective access to advanced technologies for academic research.
