IMF Chief Strategist Christian Mumssen on the 15th urged government authorities to focus on medium-term fiscal frameworks and resolutely pursue price stability, even in a shock-prone world. Speaking at an Atlantic Council event, he warned that rapid advances in AI and digital finance, along with geopolitical multipolarity, are creating extremely high uncertainty, and stressed the importance of credible medium-term fiscal frameworks and a firm commitment to price stability. He also revealed that the IMF is advancing five major policy reviews, including how it assesses countries' economies and new lending mechanisms, and is working to strengthen debt sustainability assessments for low-income countries and enhance financial risk warning capabilities. Mumssen pointed out that the fragmentation of global governance systems is a problem at a time when massive structural challenges and technological revolutions require even greater international cooperation, and called on countries to work with the IMF.
