Apple Inc.Intel's 18A node may manufacture chips for Apple's iPad Pro and MacBook Air, but no confirmed deal.
Intel shares have surged 135% since the U.S. government converted CHIPS Act grants into a 9.9% equity stake, buying 433 million shares at $20.47 each. President Trump reportedly helped broker a preliminary deal for Intel's 18A node to manufacture chips for Apple's iPad Pro and entry-level MacBook Air. Beyond political support, Intel's Data Center and AI segment grew 22% year over year in Q1 to $5.1 billion with 30.5% operating margins, as the AI workload mix shifts from training toward inference and agentic AI, moving the GPU-to-CPU ratio from 8:1 toward 1:1 or even CPU-heavy. Intel also signed a long-term agreement with Google for Xeon processors and was selected as the host CPU for Nvidia's DGX Rubin NVL8 systems, while its foundry business has received nearly $8.9 billion from the U.S. government and is partnering with Tesla's TeraFab consortium.
