The pretax margin edged up to 77% from 75% a year ago, and the board declared a quarterly dividend of $0.0875 per share payable September 14 to holders of record on September 1. Execution, clearing and distribution fees rose 22% to $142 million, while a 0.21% slip in the GLOBAL currency basket cut comprehensive earnings by $36 million.
