International Paper reported second-quarter sales below analyst expectations, with revenue falling 11.3% year on year to $6.00 billion, missing the consensus estimate of $6.21 billion. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $0.04, significantly above the forecast of a $0.04 loss. Free cash flow was negative $7 million, down from positive $54 million in the same quarter last year. Chairman and CEO Andy Silvernail said execution continued to improve across the company. The stock rose 1.8% to $43.41 following the release.
