Iraqi authorities issued a statement denying reports that Prime Minister Ali al-Saidi delivered a US ceasefire proposal to Iran, calling them baseless. The Iraqi prime minister's media office confirmed that the reports are entirely unrelated to the facts. Earlier, The New York Times reported, citing Iranian and Iraqi officials, that Iran rejected a ceasefire proposal from President Donald Trump, which Ali al-Saidi had delivered to the government in Tehran. During an official visit to Iran yesterday, Ali al-Saidi met with President Masoud Pezeshkian and said that Iraq and Iran have closely linked security interests, while affirming that the Baghdad government will not allow Iraqi territory to be used as a base to threaten Iran.
