NVIDIA CorporationNvidia signed a roughly $3.4 billion five-year cloud-services agreement with IREN and holds rights to invest up to $2.1 billion.
IREN Limited co-CEO Daniel Roberts told the Financial Times on September 7 that AI compute demand may never be fully satisfied, as the company could invest as much as $30 billion by mid-2027. IREN's contracted demand includes a $9.7 billion Microsoft contract running through 2031, a roughly $3.4 billion five-year cloud-services agreement with Nvidia, and about $2.8 billion in July contracts with AI developers, with management saying 2026 capacity is largely sold out. Nvidia's deal also carries rights to invest up to $2.1 billion in IREN, vesting as IREN deploys Nvidia GPU infrastructure. The buildout runs ahead of today's revenue, and IREN had 93,610,835 shares sold short on August 31, 25.01% of float, with 2.06 days to cover. Hedge fund holders of IREN rose to 69 in the second quarter from 53 in the first, while Nvidia holders rose to 285 from 275, according to filings that predate September's AI safety debate.
