Israel hits back at Turkey over Netanyahu red notice demand

The Israeli Prime Minister's Office issued a statement sharply rebuking the Turkish government and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan after Turkey called on Interpol to issue a red notice for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on charges of genocide in the Gaza Strip. The statement said Israel has long been unimpressed by Turkey's hypocrisy, called the Turkish leader an anti-Semitic dictator, and accused Turkey of trying to extend its aggression into Syria, which Israel will not allow to happen. Meanwhile, Turkish Justice Minister Akin Gurlek said he had submitted a request to the Interior Ministry to seek an international red notice for Netanyahu, after a court in Istanbul issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu on July 14 on genocide charges, with the relevant documents forwarded to the Foreign Ministry for the next steps.
