Johnson & Johnson announced strategic focus on cancer and neuroscience, with AI to speed drug discovery, and aims to become top cancer company by 2030.

Johnson & Johnson will not enter the obesity drug market, instead concentrating on cancer and neuroscience as key growth areas, its chief executive officer announced on June 17. The company aims to become the top cancer company by 2030, currently leading in multiple myeloma treatment. Last year, it spent $3.05 billion to acquire Halda Therapeutics for an oral prostate cancer therapy, and it has identified dementia as a major challenge amid increased investments in neurodegenerative diseases. Johnson & Johnson is also ramping up use of artificial intelligence to speed up drug discovery.
