JPMorgan lowered its price target for Coinbase to $196 from $283, citing near-term revenue headwinds from a partnership between Coinbase and Hyperliquid that changes how USDC reserve income is shared. The bank said the arrangement may limit additional revenue for Coinbase and Circle, as Coinbase manages USDC movement onto Hyperliquid and shares most of the associated yield with the protocol. JPMorgan analysts described the situation as a prisoner's dilemma for the two companies, noting that exchanges and payment platforms are gaining bargaining power to demand more of the interest income from stablecoin reserves. The bank also pointed to tougher crypto market conditions weighing on transaction activity and asset levels. Separately, Mizuho downgraded Circle to underperform, warning that competitors offering more generous revenue-sharing terms could compress industry margins, and highlighted the upcoming renewal of Circle's revenue-sharing agreement with Coinbase as another risk.
