JPMorgan Chase & Co
Wells Fargo & CompanyJPMorgan Chase is closing in on becoming the first bank ever to reach a $1 trillion market capitalization, with its valuation at roughly $970 billion on Monday morning. The bank was worth about $138 billion on December 30, 2025, just before Jamie Dimon took over as CEO, and last month it posted the highest-ever quarterly profit by a U.S. bank. Wells Fargo analyst Mike Mayo wrote in an Aug. 13 note that JPMorgan's ability to invest heavily in branches, bankers, and technology creates a flywheel that could push its valuation to $2 trillion within seven to eight years. Mayo also cautioned that the past decade lacked a real recession and that the bank trades near its peak forward earnings multiple since the financial crisis, putting pressure on earnings growth. The biggest test may come when Dimon, 70, eventually leaves, as investors have long attached a 10% to 15% premium to the shares tied to his leadership.
