International Business MachinesJPMorgan upgraded IBM to Overweight and raised price target, citing stronger software growth expectations.

JPMorgan upgraded International Business Machines Corporation to Overweight from Neutral and raised its price target to $291 from $270, citing stronger software growth expectations for the second half of 2026. Analyst Brian Essex noted IBM is benefiting from migration tailwinds related to Red Hat and OpenShift, as well as growing demand for OpenShift driven by increased AI-related container adoption, and pointed to a rebound in automation with HashiCorp beginning to tap increasing C-suite sponsorship. JPMorgan believes IBM could see further valuation expansion if it gains incremental traction as a substantial AI infrastructure beneficiary. Separately, Morgan Stanley raised its price target on IBM to $267 from $225 while reiterating an Equal Weight rating, citing stronger-than-expected enterprise server demand and increasing its earnings-per-share estimates by 5% to 6% for companies with significant compute exposure.
