The number of foreign visitors to Japan in June fell 6.8 percent from a year earlier to 3,148,600, marking the third consecutive month of decline, according to the Japan National Tourism Organization. While visitors from China continued to drop sharply, down 57.3 percent to 340,700, arrivals from South Korea rose 7.8 percent to 787,100, from Taiwan increased 14.6 percent to 670,400, and from the United States grew 2.7 percent to 354,500, all setting record highs for the month of June. The cumulative total for the first half of the year came to 21,084,800, down 2.0 percent from the same period a year earlier.
