JX Metals shares ended trading on the 21st down 33 yen, or 0.91 percent, from the previous day at 3,598 yen, extending a modest decline. The company announced its first-quarter results for the fiscal year ending March 2027 on August 6, posting a sharp rise in revenue and profit with sales of 260.604 billion yen, operating profit of 81.446 billion yen, and net profit of 53.07 billion yen. It also raised its full-year forecast to sales of 1.025 trillion yen, operating profit of 232 billion yen, and net profit of 141 billion yen. However, analyst estimates compiled by IFIS Japan put full-year pre-tax profit at 243.986 billion yen and net profit at 166.116 billion yen, exceeding the company's guidance. On August 7, the first trading day after the results, the stock plunged 6.18 percent from the previous day to 3,886 yen. Since then, the share price has swung sharply, at one point rebounding 5.68 percent to 4,000 yen on August 17, before tumbling 6.63 percent to 3,561 yen on August 19, leaving the stock without a clear direction.
