Kasikorn Securities assesses that the SET Index today will move in a range of 1,550-1,580 points after the US Federal Reserve, or Fed, unanimously decided to raise interest rates by 0.25% to 3.75-4.00% as the market expected, but signaled a more hawkish stance through the Dot Plot, with the median Fed Funds Rate for 2026-2028 revised up from 3.8%, 3.6% and 3.4% to 4.1%, 4.1% and 3.9% respectively, reflecting the possibility that the Fed may raise rates one more time this year. Meanwhile, the Fed revised up its GDP forecasts for 2026 and 2027 by 0.1% each to 2.3% and 2.4%, and raised its PCE inflation forecast for 2026 to 3.7% from 3.6%, while lowering its unemployment rate forecast to 4.1%. These results supported the Dollar Index strengthening past 100 and the 10-year US Bond Yield closing above 5%. Earlier, the SET Index closed yesterday at 1,562.73 points, down 15.93 points or -1.01%, with foreign investors net selling Thai shares of 7.192 billion baht. On the tourism front, the government is likely to postpone the Thai Tiew Thai Plus project worth 4 billion baht from late 2026 to the low season around April 2027, while maintaining the quota of 1 million rights, supporting accommodation costs of up to 1,500 baht per night and a 50:50 co-payment digital coupon. Meanwhile, the Cabinet approved a budget of 15.5 billion baht to establish a national disaster insurance system, with coverage starting from October 1, 2026 to October 1, 2027, covering approximately 30 million homes, covering floods, storms and earthquakes up to 100,000 baht per home per event, and in the case of death up to 2 million baht per person. As for the Excise Department, it is preparing to adjust the import tax on electric vehicles for brands that have no plans to produce in Thailand from 10% to 31-39%, which may affect Tesla and some European automakers. Recommended stocks today include BCH with a fundamental price of 12.50 baht and KTB with a fundamental price of 47.00 baht.
