Korn Chatikavanij, party-list MP and deputy leader of the Democrat Party, has warned the government to stop wasteful budget spending and urgently restructure public finances before the country faces a fiscal crisis. He pointed out that 69 percent of the national budget is tied to fixed expenditures and obligations, broken down into 39.5 percent for public sector personnel, 15.0 percent for social welfare, and 12.2 percent for debt repayment, leaving only a small portion for investment and other spending. Korn proposed creating new economic engines by upgrading workforce skills and developing future technology industries, while also reshaping the role of the state to be transparent and designing welfare that can genuinely reduce inequality.
