South Korea's KOSPI index tumbled 409.52 points, or 5.35%, to close at 7,246.79 on Wednesday, marking its third straight session of declines and bringing the cumulative loss over that period to nearly 850 points, or 10.1%. Technology and chipmaker stocks led the broad-based sell-off, with 763 stocks declining against 124 gainers on volume of 495.75 million shares worth 41.65 trillion won. The drop came amid renewed Middle East hostilities after President Donald Trump declared the U.S.-Iran ceasefire over, sending crude oil prices sharply higher before they pulled back from session highs. On Wall Street, the Dow fell 576.76 points to 52,348.39, the S&P 500 slipped 0.28% to 7,482.71, while the Nasdaq edged up 0.20% to 25,870.65, as housing and gold stocks weakened on interest-rate concerns.
