Lam Research shares surged approximately 18.9% in Thursday's regular-session trading after the semiconductor-equipment company issued stronger-than-expected quarterly guidance. The company forecast revenue of $8.1 billion, plus or minus $400 million, for the quarter ending September 27, well above the analyst consensus of approximately $7.09 billion. Adjusted earnings were projected at $2.15 per share, plus or minus $0.15, compared with the $1.83 estimate. Fiscal fourth-quarter revenue reached $6.72 billion, exceeding the $6.67 billion consensus, while adjusted earnings of $1.82 per share surpassed expectations of $1.68. The company supplies deposition, etching and cleaning systems to chipmakers including Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing and Samsung Electronics, and management cited expanding artificial-intelligence infrastructure as a driver of demand for advanced processors and memory.
