LG Display announced experimental study results showing that higher refresh rates on gaming monitors significantly improve real-world gaming performance. In a test with 31 adult males playing a first-person shooter, the hit score win rate improved by 38% at 480Hz compared to 60Hz, with an additional 10% gain at 480Hz over 240Hz. Qualitative satisfaction also rose with refresh rate, as participants reported smoother visuals and easier target tracking. The company attributed the gains to OLED's physical characteristics, noting that input lag was reduced by more than 10 milliseconds at 480Hz versus 60Hz. LG Display plans to strengthen its high-refresh-rate Gaming OLED lineup, building on its 27-inch 540/720Hz OLED panel that won Display of the Year from the Society for Information Display.
