Eli Lilly and CompanyLilly launches Foundayo in UK, expanding market for its weight-loss drug.
Eli Lilly and Company has launched Foundayo in the United Kingdom, making Britain the first European country where its oral treatment for weight management and type 2 diabetes is available. The pill, known chemically as orforglipron, became available through private prescription after the UK medicines regulator authorised it on August 10. Lilly expects Foundayo to cost between £100 and £120 per month through private providers, compared with approximately £330 for a month's supply of its Mounjaro injection. However, access through England's state-run National Health Service will depend on a separate review by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, which has requested additional information and has not scheduled a second meeting. Foundayo remains under review in the European Union, and it is the second GLP-1 tablet launched in the UK, following Novo Nordisk's Wegovy pill.
