Lumentum Holdings IncAI infrastructure spending drives OCS and CPO orders, with shipments doubling and revenue growth expected.
Lumentum is capitalizing on accelerating AI infrastructure spending, with its optical circuit switches (OCS) shipments doubling sequentially in the fiscal fourth quarter and the company expecting its first triple-digit OCS revenue quarter in the first quarter of fiscal 2027. The company is tracking toward more than $400 million in OCS revenues during the second half of calendar 2026 and aims to become the number one supplier to a major OCS customer in early 2027. In co-packaged optics (CPO), Lumentum expects ultra-high-power laser revenues to reach roughly $50 million by the end of calendar 2026 and its first triple-digit revenue quarter in the third quarter of fiscal 2027, having received its first external light source module order. Near-packaged optics (NPO) is seen as completely additive to its existing total addressable market, with new GPUs, XPUs, and TPUs arriving from mid-2027 through early 2028 expected to support wider adoption. However, Lumentum faces tough competition from Marvell, which has shipped over one million silicon-photonics DCI modules and expects scale-up optics revenues of roughly $300 million, and from Nvidia, which is collaborating with Marvell on silicon photonics and NVLink Fusion. Lumentum shares have appreciated 143% year to date, and the Zacks Consensus Estimate for its earnings is $4.23 per share, up 67 cents over the past 30 days, indicating 284.55% year-over-year growth.
