Manchester United has secured the majority of the land required to build a new 100,000-seat stadium near Old Trafford. The club acquired a 25-acre site from Indurent, a Blackstone portfolio company, located approximately 350 meters north-west of the current stadium. The new venue is set to become the biggest sporting arena in the UK and will anchor a 370-acre regeneration project expected to deliver around 15,000 new homes, create 48,000 local jobs, and add more than £7 billion annually to the UK economy. CEO Collette Roche called the acquisition a significant milestone that allows the club to preserve its heritage while building a world-class stadium with fans at the center of the design. Further details will be revealed when the Old Trafford Regeneration Mayoral Development Corporation publishes its vision on July 9.
