CoreWeave, Inc. Class A Common StockMeta's cloud entry turns from client to competitor, creating headwind for CoreWeave.
Seeking Alpha analysts say Meta's plan to build a cloud computing business to sell excess AI computing power could most impact neocloud companies like Nebius and CoreWeave, whose shares fell by double digits on the news. The J Thesis noted that while Meta has multi-year deals with those firms, it risks turning from client to competitor, creating a strong headwind for the neocloud group. Ricardo Fernandez added that the market's negative reaction surprised him because it hit CoreWeave and Nebius but not Oracle, even though all three have data center capacity contracts with Meta. He believes Meta's move suggests it sees a solid business case for selling cloud services, but it is highly doubtful that existing neocloud contracts will be canceled.
