Meta Platforms is pushing its new Muse personal AI agent beyond chatbots into completing tasks such as researching products, negotiating and, with permission, completing purchases, a move that could create a second AI growth engine beyond advertising. T. Rowe Price portfolio manager Tony Wang told CNBC that Meta now has a distribution advantage. The development matters for ETFs with sizeable Meta exposure: Meta is the largest holding in the First Trust Dow Jones Internet Index Fund at about 10.5%, the largest holding in the Communication Services Select Sector SPDR Fund at 19.3%, and accounts for roughly 8.7% of the Invesco AI and Next Gen Software ETF, about 10.6% of the Global X Social Media ETF, and 2.9% of the Invesco QQQ Trust. Wang said greater use of AI agents could increase demand for bottlenecks such as memory and networking, potentially benefiting semiconductor holdings alongside Meta. The trade ultimately depends on whether Muse turns AI agents into meaningful consumer behavior across Meta's platforms such as Instagram and WhatsApp.
