Meta Platforms Inc.Meta ships its first commercial coding agent, Muse Code, with competitive benchmarks.

Meta Superintelligence Labs shipped its first commercial product, Muse Code, a terminal-based coding agent powered by the Muse Spark 1.2 model, on August 5, 2026. The unit was formed after Meta's roughly $14.3 billion acquihire of Scale AI and is led by Alexandr Wang. Standard pricing is $1.25 per million input tokens and $4.25 per million output, but a contributor tier offers approximately $0.10 per million input and $0.20 per million output in exchange for allowing Meta to use prompts and completions to improve its models. On vendor-reported benchmarks, Muse Spark 1.2 scores 82.9% on Terminal-Bench 2.1 and 59.3% on DeepSWE 1.1, trailing only Claude Opus 5 at 86.7%. The launch mirrors Google DeepMind's structure by splitting research from product and imposing a revenue mandate, with the contributor tier designed to create a data flywheel that subsidizes access while generating training data to close the performance gap with top-tier models.
