Michelin North America plans to wind down operations at its BFGoodrich Tires plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, with the phased ramp-down starting early next year and concluding by year-end 2028. Nearly all BFGoodrich production will be consolidated at the company's Fort Wayne, Indiana plant, as both U.S. sites are operating well below designed capacities, creating unsustainable structural inefficiencies. The Tuscaloosa site, acquired in 1990 and producing passenger car tires, currently employs approximately 1,200 people. Michelin will record a provision of around 220 million euros in non-recurring expenses in its 2026 consolidated financial results.
