Microchip Technology IncMicrochip announced a collaboration with Micron on PCIe Gen 6 storage, enhancing its competitive position.
Microchip Technology announced a collaboration with Micron to showcase an end-to-end PCIe Gen 6 storage architecture combining Microchip’s Switchtec PCIe Gen 6 switches with Micron’s 9650 NVMe solid-state drives. The joint solution targets AI, high-performance computing, and cloud workloads by delivering greater bandwidth, lower latency, and scalable storage connectivity. Microchip’s Switchtec switches are built on a 3-nanometer process, support up to 160 lanes, and are designed for lower power consumption in high-density AI systems. The partnership strengthens Microchip’s competitive position against Broadcom and Astera Labs in the AI and enterprise data-center market, where Broadcom expects AI semiconductor revenue to reach $56 billion in fiscal 2026 and Astera Labs’ Scorpio AI Fabric Switch portfolio has entered volume production. Microchip shares have gained 21.8% year to date, and the Zacks Consensus Estimate for fiscal 2027 earnings is $3.14 per share, implying 91.46% growth.
