Microchip Technology IncSecured U.S. export license for FPGA R&D in Armenia, enabling expansion of global R&D while complying with export-control rules.

Microchip Technology has secured a U.S. export license for advanced FPGA-related technology at its Armenia office, formalizing its ability to expand global FPGA research and development while complying with strict U.S. export-control rules. The approval was disclosed earlier in June 2026 alongside the company's outlook presentation at the Mizuho Technology Conference in New York. Management has also pointed to improving operations, including reduced inventory and better factory loading, with a step up in expected revenue and profitability. The company's investment narrative projects $7.3 billion in revenue and $1.9 billion in earnings by 2029, requiring 18.5% yearly revenue growth from a current loss of $154.4 million. Some analysts remain cautious, citing elevated inventories and restructuring costs that could pressure margins even if the Armenia license supports higher-value FPGA work.
