SK Hynix IncSK Hynix's 2027 DRAM and HBM capacity sold out, with strong demand and potential pricing power.
Micron Technology, Samsung Electronics, and SK Hynix have reportedly sold out their projected 2027 DRAM and high-bandwidth memory capacity, signaling the AI-driven memory shortage could persist longer than expected. According to Digitimes, suppliers have already allocated their projected 2027 DRAM and HBM production, with customers receiving only around 60% to 70% of requested volumes. Final pricing has yet to be determined, potentially giving producers considerable negotiating leverage if demand continues exceeding available supply. The three companies dominate global memory production, with Samsung holding 39% of the DRAM market in the second quarter, followed by SK Hynix at 26% and Micron at 25%. The shortage is also creating an opening for China's CXMT, as Apple has reportedly tested its DRAM and PC manufacturers have begun using CXMT memory in selected laptops.
