Micron Technology shares rose 3.1% after Elon Musk publicly thanked the company during Tesla's Q2 2026 earnings call for providing a very significant allocation of memory chips on reasonable terms. Musk described memory pricing as pretty insane and said the allocation would help Tesla in the years to come. TrendForce reported that Micron's Strategic Customer Agreements already cover roughly 20% of its DRAM output and about one-third of its NAND volumes, with Tesla appearing to join an expanding roster of AI-driven customers that includes GM, Ford and Anthropic. The broader memory sector also gained, with SanDisk, Western Digital and SK Hynix each up about 2% and the Roundhill Memory ETF rising 2.6%.
