Micron Technology IncSurging AI demand for HBM and DRAM, with 2026 HBM capacity sold out and shortages expected past 2027.

Micron Technology shares have crossed $1,000, pushing the company into the trillion-dollar club amid surging demand for high-bandwidth memory and advanced DRAM driven by artificial intelligence workloads. The company’s entire 2026 HBM production capacity is already sold out, and management expects DRAM shortages to persist past 2027. TrendForce projects the global memory market will reach $1.3 trillion in 2027, with DRAM revenue rising 303% this year to $619 billion and expanding to $903 billion in 2027. Micron’s trailing price-to-earnings ratio stands at 48, while its forward P/E of 9.5 appears attractive relative to AI chip peers like Nvidia, Broadcom, and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, which have settled in the mid-20s to mid-30s range. The company is securing multiyear supply agreements with hyperscalers, which may reduce the boom-bust volatility that has historically plagued the memory market.
