Micron Technology unveiled a new 512-gigabyte DDR5 server memory module, doubling the capacity of the 256GB product it began sampling in May and pushing speeds up to 9,200 megatransfers per second. Shares of the memory and storage semiconductor manufacturer rose about 1.3% to $936.60 Tuesday morning, offering some relief after Monday's 5.3% slide when broader worries about the pace of AI development pressured semiconductor stocks. The larger module can keep more data closer to server processors and reduce unnecessary data movement across increasingly demanding AI workloads, though DDR5 is not a substitute for the high-bandwidth memory used beside AI accelerators. Micron generated $41.46 billion of fiscal third-quarter revenue and $18.3 billion of adjusted free cash flow, and the stock trades 47.44% above its GF Value estimate of $635.23. The next test is execution, as the 512GB module needs platform qualifications, real server deployments and meaningful volume before it can justify adding another layer of growth.
