Amazon.com IncAWS revenue growth of 37% shows accelerating cloud demand.
Big Tech stocks have stormed back after Microsoft and Amazon reported earnings that showed accelerating AI-related cloud revenue growth, reversing months of investor anxiety over heavy spending. Microsoft shares surged 28% and Amazon jumped 20% in the six sessions following their late-July reports, adding a combined $1.3 trillion in market value. Microsoft’s Azure cloud sales rose 43% in its fiscal fourth quarter, while Amazon Web Services posted a 37% jump in second-quarter revenue, its fifth straight quarter of accelerating growth. The results helped justify the companies’ capital outlays and lifted the S&P 500 to a new all-time high, with Microsoft now up 3.4% for the year after having been the index’s biggest point drag. Despite the rally, some strategists caution that the rapid gains resemble a bear market rally driven by quants, passive flows, and retail speculation rather than institutional conviction.
