Microsoft CorporationMicrosoft instructs sales team to promote its own AI models, aiming to boost adoption of its Copilot and Azure AI services.
Microsoft has instructed its sales team to promote the company's own artificial intelligence models over those of rivals OpenAI, Alphabet's Google, and Anthropic. Executive Vice President Jay Parikh told staff during a fiscal 2027 strategy session that Microsoft is selling a full end-to-end system while competitors sell parts, according to a Bloomberg report. Copilot chief Jacob Andreou compared Microsoft's Copilot with Anthropic's Claude, saying it was slower, less accurate, and lacked strong security integrations across Office apps. The push follows Microsoft's April deal ending OpenAI's exclusivity and a recent report that it is replacing OpenAI and Anthropic models in Word and Excel to cut costs. Microsoft declined to comment.
