Monarch Collective raised a $250 million fund to invest in women's sports, positioning it as a multibillion-dollar asset class
Monarch Collective co-founder Kara Nortman says women's sports is poised to become a multibillion-dollar asset class, driven by surging valuations and media revenue. Nortman's firm raised a $250 million fund to invest in women's sports teams, leagues, and rights, and has taken six positions including three NWSL soccer teams, a WNBA team, and a Berlin women's club. She noted the women's sports market has grown from about $500 million to roughly $3 billion in three years, with WNBA average valuations up 59% in one year to about $427 million. Nortman predicted the market could reach $20 to $50 billion, with value concentrating in top leagues and teams that deliver world-class player and fan experiences.
