Search and rescue operations along the Nepal-Tibet border have entered their fifth day after a Himalayan glacier collapse triggered severe flash floods. In Nepal, at least 675 people have died and over 2,400 are missing, while on the Chinese side in Tibet, at least 16 have died and 546 are missing. The total death toll stands at 695, with nearly 3,000 missing. The disaster was caused by a glacier collapse near Langtang Lirung peak, sending water and debris down the Trishuli and Bhote Koshi rivers for about 100 kilometers, damaging communities and tourist areas. Foreign nationals are among the missing. The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development has warned of possible secondary flooding in the coming days, as debris may form natural dams at risk of breaching. Meanwhile, the U.S. government has announced humanitarian aid worth 3.6 million dollars, or about 2.6 million pounds, to assist approximately 10,000 affected households.
