Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said AI companies must be more rigorous in testing their products before releasing them to the public. Speaking on the sidelines of an event hosted by King Charles III in Scotland, Huang said recent incidents involving AI, which thankfully did no harm, are a reminder that as the industry moves from labs to product development, companies have to become much more rigorous in testing and securing products before release. "You should go as fast as you can, but no faster than that," he said, adding that if a product is not ready, companies should hold it back. Huang compared the situation to engineering challenges like an omelette, a car or an airplane engine that is not ready to be released, saying products should not reach the public until they are ready for use. He said every government should be involved because AI is such an impactful technology, but argued that AI is a technology rather than a product, unlike social media, and that regulators should focus on the products built on it, adding new laws to existing ones when necessary.
