Nvidia is partnering with BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, Blackstone, and other major Wall Street firms to fund its AI build-out. Monachil Capital Partners managing partner and chief investment officer Ali Meli highlighted that projected capital expenditure for next year is north of $1 trillion for hyperscalers alone, with power, energy, and real estate pushing the total much higher. Meli said Nvidia may backstop the residual value of GPUs to help customers obtain financing, but the key risk is whether GPUs retain value, noting H100 prices have fallen from $40,000 to $50,000 three years ago to about $8,000 in the secondary market. He also questioned whether end users are startups burning capital or paying customers, and warned that open weight models and cheaper tokens could accelerate GPU depreciation.
