NVIDIA shares rose about 0.6% in Friday trading after Amazon increased its planned capital expenditure to $220 billion, a 10% boost from the prior $200 billion target. Amazon Web Services reported 37% revenue growth, its strongest in more than four years, and CEO Andy Jassy said much of the cloud capacity expected in 2027 and some in 2028 is already reserved. While Amazon is developing its own Trainium processors, Jassy reaffirmed the partnership with NVIDIA and said NVIDIA chips remain essential for many AWS customers. The additional $20 billion in Amazon's 2026 capex expands the potential market for processors and infrastructure, though investors may watch how workloads are split between NVIDIA hardware and Trainium systems.
