New York gold futures fell back, with the most active August contract settling at $4,050.97 per troy ounce in regular trading, down $100.93 from the previous session. Crude oil prices surged amid escalating military conflict between the US and Iran, fueling concerns over resurgent inflation and potential rate hikes from September onward. This pushed US yields higher and strengthened the dollar, which weighed on gold and led to selling pressure. The trading range, including after-hours, spanned from $4,042.65 to $4,143.76. In after-hours trading following the regular close, prices are hovering around the $4,052 level.
