Survey shows consumer pessimism about investing, which could reduce demand for Allianz Life's investment and insurance products.
Only 1 in 4 Americans think now is a good time to invest, according to a new study from Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America, down from 34% last quarter and the lowest level in four years. The survey found that concern about continued volatility and fear of a major recession are driving the hesitation, with Gen Zers the most fearful and boomers the least anxious. Roughly half of Americans say they have shifted investments to less risky options, and two-thirds of Gen Zers cut back on retirement savings contributions in the first half of the year due to financial stress. Kelly LaVigne, vice president of Consumer Insights at Allianz Life, noted that staying out of the market during volatility can mean missing out on potential recovery and growth, especially for those with a long time until retirement.
